1 Peter 4:10 - As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another ....

Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, O.F.M. Cap., Preacher of the Papal Household encourages people to pray this prayer daily for a New Pentecost in the Church. He says
"The Veni Creator Spiritus is the hymm used by the Church for the opening of ecumenical councils and all other important functions. It is the hymm which from the IX century up to today has been used by generations of saints to cry out ' come" to the Holy Spirit. It is filled with their faith, hope and burning love and every time it is sung, God hears it accompanied by this immense chorus."

Prayer to the Holy Spirit - Veni Creator Spiritus

Come, O’Creator Spirit blest!
And in our souls take up Thy rest;
Come, with Thy grace and heavenly aid,
To fill the hearts which Thou hast made.

Great Paraclete! To Thee we cry;
O highest gift of God most high!
O fount of life! O fire of love!
And sweet anointing from above!

Thou dost appear in sev’nfold dow’r
The sign of God’s almighty pow’r!
The Father’s promise, making rich
With saving truth our earthly speech.

Kindle our senses from above,
And make our hearts o’erflow with love;
With patience firm and virtue high,
The weakness of our flesh supply.

Far from us drive the foe we dread,
And grant us Thy true peace instead;
So shall we not, with Thee for guide.
Turn from the path of life aside.

O may Thy grace on us bestow
The Father and the Son to know,
And Thee, through endless times confessed,
Of Both th’eternal Spirit blest.

All glory, while the ages run,
Be to the Father and Son
Who rose from death, the same to Thee
O Holy Ghost, eternally.

In the precious Name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
